FAQs

Bloggingportal.eu is a European blogging platform and the best way to read blogs about EU affairs (i.e. “euroblogs”). Today, we are about a dozen regular and many more ad-hoc editors – here we are – and we are running the platform without any external funding!

We syndicate the content from more than 750 individual and collective blogs about the EU in as many European languages as we can find (see the list of active blogs). These blogs are independent from Bloggingportal.eu, we simply try to make their content more accessible.

To do so, we tag the posts and mark the best ones so that they appear on our front page and the “Editors’ Choice” RSS- and Twitter-feed. Usually, at the end of the week, we write “The Week in Bloggingportal” on our portal blog, the summary or “Best of” of the blog posts we have promoted over the last seven days. We also organise or participate in events and build networks online and offline to make blogging on EU affairs more visible.

We don’t think the EU is a nasty conspiracy, nor do we love everything it does. So if we find something that’s within those rather wide paramaters, and we think it’s interesting, then we include it!

So who’s behind this?

The idea to embark on this project came from Jon Worth, long-time blogger about EU affairs. 2 posts at his Euroblog – reading Euroblogs, and Getting a grip of the European blogosphere – inspired the project The programming genius to make the whole thing possible is Stefan Happer, the guy who’s behind Politik Portal. Then, a number of EU bloggers have helped out, most notably Andreas from Kosmopolit in the startup phase, and also DJ Nozem and Le Croche-Pied. Over time, the project has evolved and now includes a larger number of people and related activities that go beyond the mere syndication of content.
