Recording: Meeting of Hungarian Presidency with bloggers

Yesterday – Friday, 4 March 2011 – the fourth meeting between (euro)bloggers and the Hungarian Presidency took place in the Hungarian representation in Brussels.

We’ve made a recording of a part of the meeting and even though the quality is not very good you can listen to the two parts of the recording below.

The first part is on how the Presidency organises all the meetings of the Council and the challenges they face thereby. The second part is on interpretation in the Council, the different rules and arrangements and the demands that the interpretation practices create for the interpreters and the presidency.

On the side of the presidency, there were their two spokespersons Gergely (who does the introduction on the recording) and Marton (both blog on “Kovácts & Kováts“) as well as Benö Modok, who is running the Presidency Coordination in the Permanent Representation and who does most of the speaking on the recording. The bloggers who were present write on Eurogoblin, Europasionaria, Mounteulympus, Polscieu and on Erikjosefson.eu.

At the end of the meeting (not on the recording) we also talked about a possible project for which no decisions have been made yet. There may be a possibility in the future for bloggers to get accreditation to EU Council meetings.

As a pilot project (in case there is a positive decision on this, which is not yet guaranteed) the presidency spokespersons might be able to offer a limited number of places to those bloggers who have already participated in one of the first four joint meetings with them for one of the upcoming Council meetings.

Still, no decision (on the format, scope and timing of the inviation) has been made, but as soon as we hear something new, we’ll follow up here on Bloggingportal.eu.
